Happy Spring from our little corner of the quilting world!

The warm weather has been teasing us here in our quaint little town, by coming slowly in small doses. But we're doing our best to encourage it to stay. Even our window display at the store is declaring its love for ALL things spring!
It's a busy time of year for all of us here at Miller's. Prep for our booth at the Sewing & Quilting Expo at the Cleveland IX Center this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is well under way. And next week on April 10th and 11th we'll be participating in our annual Quilting N' Cuisine Mini Shop Hop with 4 other local shops (for more information on this event, keep scrolling!) AND before we know it, it'll be time for our 54th Anniversary Sale on May 3&4(Make sure to mark this event in your calendars!)

New Patterns, Notions, Etc.
Designer Meghan Buchanan says this pattern was "inspired by the desert, where [she] grew up. It is a play on gems, starry skies and adobe windows." It's fat quarter friendly and is a great way to feature one of your favorite collections. You have the option to create either a lap size or wall hanging version.

I know, I know...you're probably thinking: we just got done with winter, why do we want anything that has to do with snow? But hey, it's never to early to start prepping for next year. With this 10 month Block-of-the-Month pattern, you have the option of creating 1 block each month for 10 months or doing it all at once. Plus who can resist a pattern with snowmen, llamas on skis, and cute little coffee mugs.

From Sassafras Lane Designs comes a jelly roll friendly quilt that uses one block design, simply turned in various directions. It has an overall scrappy feel, which also means that it's a good way to use up scraps that you've been storing in your stash for months...or years (whoops!). Instructions for 4 different sizes are available.
One Way Quilt Pattern

Another Sassafras Lane Designs pattern, One Way is modern & simple. Make it as neutral or as colorful as you'd like; there's more than "one way" to design this quilt. The arrows can be made using fat eighths, so it's definitely stash-friendly. Comes in 3 sizes: Venti, Grande, and Tall.
Slice Rug Pattern

You can create the cutest little doormat using 1 jelly roll. With color photo instructions and full-size diagrams, the designers at Shabby Fabrics have done their best to make this pattern easy to follow. Recommended supplies include: jeans/denim needles, Clover Wonder Clips, heavy-duty fabric shears, and a FriXion pen.
Thimble Blossoms Pattern

There's no curved piecing required with this next pattern designed by Camille Roskelley. This Layer-Cake-friendly pattern reminds us of mermaid scales...so for all the little girls in your life who are mermaid- obsessed, this may be a quilt that's perfect for them. Choose between a lap quilt (69" x 74.5") or a Baby Quilt (39" x 43").
Home Grown Book

Home: wherever your loved ones are. This collection of projects and quilt patterns celebrates the essence of the word home. The designer Nancy Halvorsen says she "designed these quilts and projects to celebrate the family and the values that keep us close." Projects include: aprons, potholders, tea towels, mini quilts, table toppers, and more.

Expanding Stars Pattern

The star of this show is half square triangles. Combine them with small squares and larger background pieces and you've got the building blocks of this quilt. While you can use patterned prints to create it, this pattern looks just as good made up in entirely solid colors. Comes in baby, throw, queen and king sizes.
Main Street Quilt Pattern

If you haven't noticed, solid color quilts are trending and we are loving it. The Main Street pattern is just another example of how beautiful a printless quilt can be. If you love half square triangles and flying geese then you might want to try it out. It gets major bonus points too for being jelly roll, bali pop, and scrap friendly! Finished size: 70" x 96".

Bonnie K. Hunter's Playing Cards

Let your love for quilting trickle into other aspects of your life- even your playing cards. You'll find Bonnie Hunters Wonky Wishes Star Quilt pattern on the back of each of the cards, while Kings, Queens, Jokers, and Aces feature quilt patterns as well. It's the perfect deck of cards to take along on your quilt retreats!

Reveille from Andover
Stars and stripes forever.  A mini patriotic collection that sports bald eagles, stars, circle prints, and stripes. Use it to create pillows, quilts of valor, or a table runner for your home. Red and blue are the focal colors of this collection with tan thrown into the mixture as a neutral.

Strawberry Jam from Moda
What's better than a piece of freshly-baked, warm, melt-in-your-mouth bread slathered with a heaping amount of fresh, homemade strawberry jam? Joyful, springy colors of yellowy-green, teal, yellow, coral, light pink, and gray will have you wishing for warm weather to get here sooner. Prints include: strawberries, flowers, letters, gingham, and more.
Remix from Moda
Let the springtime vibes of Jen Kingwell's newest collection invigorate your soul. Large, bold prints will catch your eye while the abundance of color draws you in. Mango orange, fuchsia pink, and cool blue are just some of the colors used in this collection to bring life to its many floral and striped designs.
Growing Beautiful from Moda
Whimsical. Funky. Modern. Growing Beautiful celebrates the arrival of spring with large floral prints (along with some strawberries) plus fun geometric patterns to add some variety. These prints stand out when featured in larger quilt blocks. For some quilt ideas that use giant quilt blocks check out this book that was featured in last month's newsletter: "Quilt Big" by Jemima Flendt.
Sweet Pea Lily from Moda
I warned you there would be lots of flowers, and this collection is no exception. Designed by Robin Pickens, it features giant flower prints along with butterflies, branches, medallions, and woven textures. Your daughters and granddaughters will love the girly colors of pink and purple mixed with bright green to add that extra pop of color.
